Workshops and classes are held at a location within the Great Falls, MT region.


Figure drawing sessions. Each session features a model posing in 5, 10, 15, 25 and 60 minute poses. (One-on-one instruction upon request.) Take away various approaches to drawing and observing, plus guidance on personal areas of interest.


*Instructor lectures and critiques.

 Storytelling, photographic rendering techniques, color and composition. Both traditional and 2D/3D digital illustration tools/techniques are explored and demonstrated. Each session includes artwork review and discussion of wildlife illustration through the work of a master painter of the American west. Topics include rendering from photography / taxidermy and animal anatomy. Wildlife art classes are open to artists of all ages and abilities. Includes discussion of animal behavior, habitat and distinct characteristics.

During individual critiques, students draw and paint from taxidermy and costumed figure(s) in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Each session features a different theme with model(s) in character posing in 25 minute sittings for a single 3 hour pose. (One-on-one instruction upon request.)


Sunday Painter reserves the right to change its calendar, withdraw or modify a course or substitute instructors at any time. The School will make every effort to notify students of major changes in the schedule. Sunday Painter also reserves the right to require withdrawal of any student whose conduct is deemed detrimental to learning or safety.

Occasionally workshops or classes could be cancelled due to low enrollment or instructor availability. If your workshop is cancelled, you will be notified at least seven (7) days before the start of a class/workshop. You will receive a full refund upon cancellation.

All cancellations must be made in writing. If you cancel more than thirty (30) days before the start date of a workshop, the School will retain $100 as a credit in your account until the end of the fiscal year. The credit may only be used towards another workshop. If you cancel less than fourteen (14) days before the start date, the school will retain $100 of your deposit as a cancellation fee.

There are no refunds for no-shows or for withdrawals after a class/workshop begins.

Students will be charged a transfer fee of $50 when transferring. Students who wish to transfer from one workshop to another must do so thirty (30) days or more before the start date. No transfers are allowed thirty (30) days or less from the start date of the workshop.

Workshops Cancellation Policy

A full refund will be given when Sunday Painter cancels a program or a participant requests to drop a class at least 1 week before the first class. Sunday Painter reserves the right to cancel, change or combine programs at any time. Refunds are not available for donations.

Sunday Painter respects your privacy and will not share your personal information with other entities.

Photography/Cell Phones

If a mentee would like to request a photo, they must direct their request to the facilitator. Under no circumstance may a student take a photograph of a model without their consent.


Unless informed otherwise, the School of Western Art will consider photographs taken of students in class and of their artwork to be permissible for publication in School informational publications, including the web.

Sunday Painter photographs and video records art making activities throughout the year for publication or public relations purposes. In addition, Sunday Painter films classes throughout the year for educational purposes.

Sunday Painter also reserves the right to photograph, film, reproduce and display works of art produced by students enrolled in its programs on its websites and for promotional purposes. Students must sign a release form prior to attending Sunday Painter.

Membership Cancellation Policy

(Must be received by within two weeks of registration) Please note: all memberships are for a minimum initial term of one year. No cancellations are effective during the first 12 months of membership.
