The Gala begins SUNDAY, FEB. 25, 2018
1-4pm at The Great Falls Public Library
Take the elevator down 1 floor to the theater level.




Please remember to bring your own art supplies. Workshops are free and supplies are not provided to attendees. For those of you painting, please bring your own waterproof drop-cloth.

There is no charge for attending Sunday Painter although donations are appreciated.

Music will be provided for by Sunday Painter. (Please do not bring your own music or headphones.)

NO pressure, NO competition and NO instruction or lecture. These art workshops are purely for the fun of making art in a group setting.

A Look at Western Art Week Entries at C.M. Russell Museum

SUNDAY PAINTER VISITS WESTERN ART WEEK ENTRIES AT THE
C. M. RUSSELL MUSEUM!


Once a year Great Falls Montana becomes the center of the Western Art world for "Western Art Week". We will gather and review all the entries slated to hit the C. M. Russell Museum's 50th Auction!

On SUNDAY, MARCH 4th from 1p to 4pm we will meet at the C.M. Russell Museum.

We will take a look together at the artworks, discuss our favorite pieces, chat over painting techniques, compositions, subject matters and more!

Note:
This is a PREMIUM GATHERING and regular  C. M. Russell Museum admission rates will apply (as shown at left).

We will meet at 1pm at the C.M. Russell Museum lobby entrance. We'll gather and enter the museum together for this special visitation of the Western Art Week artworks.

Do you need a ride to attend Sunday Painter outdoor plein air painting events?

Join us in procession from the C.M. Russell Museum or hitch a ride with a local artist.

Ride share artists will depart at 12:30 sharp for the outdoor painting destination from the C.M. Russell Museum’s north parking lot. 

Please be on site to load up prior 12:30.

The world famous C.M. Russell Museum is located at 400 13th Street North in Great Falls, Montana. There is free off street parking in the north lot during the outdoor painting season (highlighted in red) on the corner of 5th avenue north and 12th Street North.

Get ready to draw and paint the "Ryan Dam" from the Ryan Island Park, public recreational picnic area. Ryan Dam is part of the Great Falls Portage National Historic Landmark.


Sunday Painter will meet at the gateway to the footbridge just adjacent to parking and restroom. More details to follow.

Sleeping Giant Paint-Out


The “Sleeping Giant” Paint-Out

Get ready to draw and paint the "Sleeping Giant" Wilderness formation (part of which is formally designated Beartooth Mountain), is a historic natural landmark that was well-known to Native Americans in the United States.

Members of Native American tribes as far away as present-day Minnesota knew of the landmark, and told the leaders of the Lewis and Clark Expedition about it inspiring the group to camp below the Sleeping Giant and explore the area around it during their initial passage through the region in 1805.

Sunday Painter will meet just off the I-15 not far from Helena, MT to paint together as a group. More details to follow.

MEMORIAL DAY SUNDAY Paint Out

Highland Cemetery this Memorial Day Weekend
Sunday, May 27, 2018 - 1pm to 4pm


Notable Monuments at Highland Cemetery
Memorial Day was always held on May 30th starting in 1868. However, in recent years the holiday is observed each year on the last Monday in May. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, although the focus of the holiday is on honoring those who have died in military service.

Some notable graves at Highland Cemetery include famous American Cowboy Artist, Charles M. "Charlie" Russell (top right photo) Cowboy actor, George Montgomery (left photo); and the founder of Great Falls, Paris Gibson (bottom right photo).

Black Eagle Dam Memorial Island Paint-Out

Black Eagle Dam (Memorial Island) Paint-out - Sunday Painter Plein Air Event


Get ready to draw and paint Black Eagle Dam from Memorial Island!
2700 N River Rd, Great Falls, MT
SUNDAY, JUNE 3, 2018, 1pm - 4pm





Black Eagle Dam is a hydroelectric gravity weir dam located on the Missouri River. Black Eagle Dam is also utilized as a recreation area. Just below the falls is a good place for canoeing, inner-tube floating, and kayaking. There are also hiking and biking trails along Rivers Edge trails.

Sunday Painter will meet at the bridge just adjacent to parking and restrooms. More details to follow.
